Are you an experienced compliance professional looking for a meaningful part-time role that fits around school hours?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Three Waters Compliance Lead to join our Three Waters Business Unit at Waimate District Council. In this role, you'll lead Council's response to compliance obligations across drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater, helping ensure our activities meet legislative, regulatory, and resource consent requirements.
This is a varied role for someone who can interpret requirements, manage reporting deadlines, analyse compliance information, and build effective relationships with regulators, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
What you'll be doing:
- Monitoring compliance requirements for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, resource consents, and related activities
- Ensuring required resource consents are in place and supporting timely applications for new consents
- Leading regulatory and environmental performance reporting, including reporting to Taumata Arowai and Environment Canterbury
- Auditing data, analysing trends, and working with the Three Waters Systems Lead to support accurate reporting
- Maintaining compliance programmes within Water Safety Plans and coordinating responses to compliance transgressions
- Contributing to compliance strategy, planning, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Providing practical compliance advice and building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Providing clear internal and external advice on three waters compliance, including supporting the Communications team with public information and media releases

- Experience managing reporting timeframes and producing clear, accurate reports
- Strong analytical skills, confidence working with data, and a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
